Scales_DreamstimeOne of Malcolm X’s twin daughters has been arrested in North Carolina based on allegations that she stole $30,000 and the identity of one of her father’s former bodyguards, according to a story in the Asheville, NC Citizen-Times.

Malikah Shabazz moved to Madison County, North Carolina, just a week before the arrest, the paper reported. Investigators visited her home after an anonymous tip to the local child protective services agency about possible mistreatment of her 13-year-old daughter.

The investigators discovered that Shabazz had warrants for her arrest on charges filed in Queens, New York, including identity theft, grand larceny and possession of stolen property. Shabazz has been involved in a lengthy legal dispute with her five sisters over their family’s estate and what to do with their father’s unpublished writings, which are worth $1.4 million, the New York Times reported.
